Global History I

This course is the first year of a two-year course that culminates with a Regent’s examination in Global History for all students at the conclusion of their second year. This course uses a chronological approach to world history, with a variety of historical themes woven into the presentation of materials. Units of study include the Ancient World (4000 B.C.E. to 500 C.E.); expanding zones of exchange and encounter (500 C.E. to 1200 C.E.); global interactions (1200 C.E. to 1650 C.E.), the first global age (1850 to 1770); and the age of revolutions (1750 to 1914).
